We are seeking a passionate and innovative Health Equity Programs Director to join our team and drive our mission forward.

Position Overview:

The Health Equity Programs Director is a new position (full time - independent contract; six month commitment) within the organization with tremendous opportunity for growth (full time salaried).
will provide creative input to addressing health disparities and improving health equity. The Director will develop a portfolio of solutions to help meet system and regional population health goals, specifically those focused on reducing health inequities and structural barriers to health by collaboratively partnering with regional leaders in the development and implementation of the health equity initiatives.

Shared Harvest currently has academic partnerships with UCLA, UCI, USC, and Charles Drew Medical Center. This position will be overseeing research and practicum opportunities for graduate students (internship/clerkship participants). Applicants should be a self-starter and an innovator in this space skilled at making important programming decisions with limited instruction and or detail. The individual should have a working understanding of best practices in health equity research and significant experience with prior programming. The individuals should have experience working with remote teams and be able to support junior team members and or work solo to meet benchmarks when needed. The individual should be able to manage expectations and function in high-stress situations. As such, communication skills must be impeccable as well as an agile mindset and openness to learn and grow and be flexible with their role and responsibilities within reason.

In this role, you will work across the organization to provide evidence-based guidance on programming and education to help educate constituents. In this role, the director will be responsible for attending local and state public health meetings and synthesizing reducing health disparities and improving the health of populations and communities. The director will direct the marketing team on newsworthy educational content that should run in our various channels. The director should also support the creation of content and tools to augment competency in health equity, health disparities, and social determinants of health across the organization.

As the Director, you will report to the Chief Medical Officer and work to bridge the organization’s work in Minority Health Policy both through research assistant affiliation the Harvard School of Medicine and the Commonwealth Fund Minority Health Policy Fellowship.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Utilize change management and performance improvement tools as ways to engage system and regional stakeholders in problem-solving. Build awareness and commitment to shared goals and efforts, and lead the ongoing communications and alignment of stakeholders throughout the process in project reporting, data analytics, creative programming, and new partnership engagement.
Exhibit strong adaptive leadership capacity when collaborating with key team members in the planning of local outreach events.
Manage the clinical components of onsite and remote Health Education outreach efforts, including but not limited to onsite events (ie. fairs), webinars and fireside chats.
Be responsible for strategic plan development, delegation of duties, and methodology development for the Health Equity initiatives.
Manage medical donations as part of the organization’s inventory in partnership with the office management team.
Be responsible for managing, training, and recruiting clinical volunteers, community health partners, and community stakeholders.
Work closely with clinical team members in managing state reporting, grant reporting of clinical activations, including health education and outreach and be a liaison for the organization and Los Angeles Department of Public Health.
Directs searches for new funding sources; coordinates public healthcare activities with related services provided by other county departments including social services, mental health, and environmental health.
Make public presentations and meet privately with physicians and administrators of health and social service agencies. Secures and maintains community support for public health programs.
Works closely with key team members to coordinate programming and outreach needs.
Collaborate with the Government and Public Affairs team to influence state and federal policy, legislative and regulatory work, where appropriate, as well as anticipating, communicating, and addressing impacts at the state and system levels.
Manage confidential and time-sensitive issues with integrity. Conduct post-initiative assessments and make recommendations for improvement based on those assessments.
Ensure tracking of business objectives and outcomes for each partnership and/or initiative led by the Health Equity Initiatives function.
Provide status reporting to senior leadership and Board on all partnerships/initiatives/collaborative/projects under the Health Equity Initiatives function.
Perform other duties and special projects as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Experience: Extensive executive-level experience in health-related academia, clinical practice, and administration, preferably within a public health context. Proven experience collaborating with community healthcare agencies, including program development, design, and evaluation. Strong speaking and presentation experience. Able to draft memos, slide decks and meeting summaries with ease. Experience in recruitment and partnership building is highly desirable.

Education and Training: A combination of education, training, and relevant experience equivalent to the specified employment standards that demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities. Masters level highly recommended, but BS or certificate is acceptable with combined extensive work experience in Public Administration, Public Health, Community Programs and or Business Development.

Management Experience: Over four years of progressively responsible management experience, including project and people management. Proficiency in facilitation, performance improvement, problem-solving, and project management, particularly involving data analytics and dashboard evaluation tools such as Tableau, Asana, Excel, and geometrics is desirable.

Team Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional and virtual teams, especially within large and complex organizations, and across diverse constituencies and geographical regions.

Healthcare Operations: A minimum of four years of experience in healthcare, community health, public health, and or social work to understand the nature of the work involved.

Customer Focus: Ability to anticipate and take personal responsibility with a sense of urgency for customer satisfaction, patient outreach and internship concerns. Consistently goes the extra mile to
listen, understand, and sensitively support the needs of others.

What we Offer:

Job Type: Full-time (contracted) - no benefits in the first six months. Salaried offer with benefits available after six months.

Pay: $68,000.00 - $72000per year based on experience & degree status
Physical Setting: hybrid remote & Greater Los Angeles Area
Schedule: flexible, but must be available a minimum of four (4) weekend days a month, no exception Education: Masters Level, NP, MPH, MPA, MD, PhD
